VOW’s Public Meeting in Hartley Wintney – Great Response!
Report on the most recent VOW public meeting in Hartley Wintney
report on the public meeting at Hook
Another packed public meeting at Hook heard about the impact the proposed warehouse development at Lodge Farm will have on the health and well-being of residents due to the enormous increase in HGV traffic passing through the village.

Life will never be the same again if these are built!
Residents of Odiham attended a packed meeting at the Cross Barn and were horrified at the sheer scale and potential damage caused to our local environment by this proposed development.

Summary of the meeting between Odiham Parish Council and Obsidian Strategic, 21 November 2023
There was no compensation mechanism for houses that are flooded because of the possible development.

Warehouses on lodge Farm
VOW is aware that Obsidian Strategic, the would-be developer of some 80 acres of Lodge farm, has submitted (9 Oct 23) a new Pre-Application for planning approval.
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust objection to the proposed warehouse development at Lodge Farm
With respect to drainage and the proximity to the River Whitewater, we would have serious concerns for increased discharge rates from this development into the Whitewater. This would be inclusive of large volumes of highway discharge containing vehicle hydrocarbons due to the significant level of traffic. This has implications for water quality

Developments at Lodge Farm
The potential developer (Obsidian Strategic) of a huge warehouse site at Lodge Farm, North Warnborough has, rightly, caused a high level of concern on Social Media with its attempt at a “public consultation” via a Zoom Call on Wednesday, 4th October.

Green corridor
It is vitally important that our communities raise awareness of how important this route is locally and make this loud and clear to Hart District Council, in their consultation on the Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP). We only have until August 20th, 2023 to do this. The proposed warehouse development at Lodge Farm would destroy the green corridor that connects our communities, so it is more important than ever to show just how much this matters to you all.

WHITEWATER FLOOD RISK CHART
The Environment Agency has provided a flood risk chart for the Whitewater, updated in real time, showing current water levels

HART’S REACTION TO AN EARLIER PROPOSAL TO DEVELOP LODGE FARM
ignificant areas of the site are susceptible to flooding and development of residential uses will need to take account of this. It is likely that any development will need to be located in three separate areas around the edge of the site, which could result in a fragmented built form and potentially poor accessibility to services. The furthest West of the three sites would be adjacent to the M3 and design and layout of the proposal would need to reflect this. The two sites to the east will be adjacent to the Odiham Common SSSI. Development will need to be sensitive to the heritage and archaeological features that are and maybe present. The site is not well screened from the surrounding land uses and there will be visual impact from the development. The northern section of the site is within the 5km Thames Basin Heath SPA zone. There are a number of SSSIs and SINCs adjoining the site and one SINC that runs through it. The presence of valuable agricultural land and groundwater protection zones are also potential constraints on the development of the site.

Odiham Parish Council Has its say
Buildings the size of 13.5 football pitches with a height of 21 metres will be visible from a wide area. There is rising ground towards Odiham and the historic Deer Park and this site will be seen from many widely used footpaths. This site is almost entirely

LODGE FARM FIELDS GROWING POTATOES IN SUMMER 2022
It is clear from the land categorization that land able to grow potatoes is classified as 3a – potatoes are the specific differentiator in deciding if land is 3a or 3b.
Romans at the site
The 2 ranges of a Roman villa at Lodge farm were discovered in the orchard during excavations in 1929 – 1930. Lodge farm was not on a direct line of any known roman highway. Two ranges of villa were discovered in the orchard. The larger building was similar to a winged corridor type building. Like now the buildings showed two or
